so I paid a whopping $13.99 for what was described as a "softball-size clump" of java moss, plus bonus java fern for using the 'buy it now' option.

got them in the mail today. bagged in sandwich baggie, a clump maybe the size of a ping pong ball. :(

java fern? hahaha right. after throwing the moss into a spare tank to clean it out, i see this tiny tiny tiny (1cm?) java fern babies, i assume, since i don't know what else they could be. they were tangled into the java moss, it took me an hour to separate those tiny little buggers and put them into a jar.

i know there's a little risk always involved when buying from online auctions, but this is...ridiculous.

maybe i should just lie down and be a polite customer. :

i don't think they would accept anything except paypal...said they wouldn't take the 'ebay checkout' process. i'm settled and accepting my fate, and waiting for my moss to grow to what it was supposed to be :) haha

by the way, where have you been? :) people have been looking for you, dattack~!

Remember that eBay is a lot of different people. Check their feedbacks before buying and see if their other customers were happy. I've bought and sold things on eBay and had almost all positive experiences. I've probably had 200 trasactions one way or another and only had problems a few times. There are people who will try to rip you off in any buisness. Also, its hard to complain about somthing subjective like "ball size" since there is no statement of density. It might have started out fluffed out softball sized and then compacted down to golfball size. I'd email the guy and say that you were dissapointed; If he's a jerk about it leave him bad feedback. Most people want to keep their customers happy and will make concesions to do such. Either way leave informative feedback to his potential future customers.

P.S. I'm looking for a little piece of Riccia to start out. Most of the online sales are for huge mats of it. I'd pay shipping if someone was willing to send me a little piece. :D
