First a disclaimer: I've never used this product.
However, I did look at reviews for it about a month ago and it seems like people are getting good results. Can't remember where I got them, but you can probably find them with a cursory search.
The Tap Water Filter is really inexpensive, especially when compared to an RO or DI system, and even when compared to other water purifiers not for aquarium use. and the replacement cartridge is cheap and easy to find. It seems to me that if you want a tap water purifier without a big investment, this one will do fine.
The drawback would be its low capacity - at 10 gallons an hour and about 150 gallons capacity in a cartridge, this would be a pain for large tanks.

I have used this filter and it works very well. My water out of the tap is very high in Phosphates and this filter gets me to "0". It is very slow but I would say that that is the only down side. It is easy to use and change filters. Also easy to see the color change and know when the filter needs to be replaced. I would not use it personally for salt water, but I know people who do and have not had any major issues.
