are you saying that you dont have any type of filter on that 10 gallon at all?

if so, im surprised that your fish are still alive.

10 gallon tanks are notorius for killing fish, especially during the begining and middle stages of the Nitrogen cycle.

you would normally use some gravel or some water from a working cycled tank to seed a new tank.
another good alternative is to attach the new filter to the existing tank so that you can get some good bacteria on your filter media.

Cool........
I'll try that maybe im just parinoid that the tank that I have currantly wont have enough good stuff for the new one....yeah no filter for last 2 weeks on 10 gal have bubble system going but the filter that came with it was so old my kids wouldn't mess with it and they mess with everything( much to my dismay)..... been changing water twice a week as it get cloudy but with getting new filter system water will look better

I have a Penguin Mini filter and a Penguin Powerhead 550 in my 10 gallon.

the penguin mini keps the tank very clear, very clean. and the powerhead gives me some good bubbles and good current.

I think your best bet would be to put 2 filters on the one tank for about a month before moving the fish.
that way you will get a good bacteria buildup on the bio-wheels in the filter.

then just toss some gravel and some of the old tank water in the new tank. should get the nitro-cycle going really fast
