Water quesion

Can i use ro/di water for a fw tank or no? We have well water and it is really bad! Just wondering if i should buy water off the shelf or what should i use?

Use your tap water and buy water conditioner for it, i.e. to take out the choloramine and chlorine. Tetra makes good ones.

My parents have really bad water too- a lot of lime. They don't even make coffee with it anymore because it has ruined so many coffee makers.
I bring them water from my house for their 10g fish tank. Would that be an option? A neighbor, friend, or family member with good water that you could steal? It's certainly the cheapest way to go. Maybe not easiest- lots of water jugs to tote around.

All our neighbors have well water also.. I guess thats the downside to living in the country lol

I believe you can.
I think some people use a mixture of both.

RO water is fine. I use a combination of RO and tap with conditioner. Works for me.

Edit: ...to confirm emmanuel's assumption... Hehehe

RO should be mixed with tapwater in most cases. As RO has no buffering capacity, you'll need to either mix it with tapwater or use an additive like RO Right to add back some of the essential minerals/buffering.
