Water Testing Incompatibility...

I've read somewhere that certain companies use different chemicals for their water testing kits, and that some of these kits are incompatible with water conditioning chemicals from other companies ie... Tetra vs. Aquarium Pharmaceuticals...

I'm currently using Tetra Aqua Safe to condition my water, and I use the API Freshwater testing kit. Will these two products cause false readings?

I've heard of some "ammonia lockdown" additives screwing readings - but not conditioners ....
