Being a good fish keeper is all about making sure your water temperments are accurate and your tank is running smoothly, so of course you should test your tanks!

I don't test. Fish and plants are my test kits. While newbies probably should (test) until they grasp solidly the foundations and dynamics of aquatic ecosystems, I would note that they do not place too much faith in test kits. They are notoriously inaccurate, but usually fulfill their duty in tank cycliing efforts.
lol... YES you should test you're water... you'll lose allot of fish if you dont! TRUST ME I'M NEW AT THIS and have already lost 5 fish but i'm testing and changing my water as much as I need to till the cycle gets up and running (still testing 0 on nitrite...grr) I wish i could find some bio-spira!! Anyway, if you dont test, you'll find out why you should the hard way.
Yes you should test your water. When it is first cycling and for the first year or so. But once you have you tank for a while then you should only need to test once in a while to make sure nothing strange is going on.
lostnconfused it's too bad you live in the states cause I have some up here in Canada, all the fish store do....Why is it so hard to find down there???
I've called 6 pet stores before I found one that had it... I live about an hour away from downtown houston, so I have to go there this weekend to get it (yay! even though i hate houston, too much traffic, makes me nervous)
