My male platy, Evasive, is acting like his normal hormonal self, but I noticed that he's starting to get thin (maybe it's just me from my females being prego, so I'm used to seeing them fat) and he has a black dot on his gonopodium. What do you think it is?? Please post ASAP!! I have some MelaFix on hand.

I would guess that the black spot is a sign of Ammonia burn... 10g, already had 1 dead fish, ammonia is my guess.

Do a water change. and buy a test kit before you buy any more fish, particularly wild caught ottos...

nanu. My other fish are fine. Please read my latest post in 3 Otos in My Community Tank. It's just him and my test results are normal. My dad is getting me a Water Drop Test Kit within the next 4 weeks. Plus, the dot is at the very tip of his gonopodium. You can't see it when the tank lights are off or for the first couple minutes that the tank lights turn on.
