For some strange reason, the other day all my glass fish died in two hours.  :'(  The few days before, they looked like they had a little bit of ick, so I treated it with some fish treatment (which died all the sealant blue) and it looked like it went away. They were fine for a few hours, but then one started acting weird. It kept tipping forward, like it had swim bladder disease, but it was to late to go to the store for treatment, so I went to bed hoping it would get better. The next morning it was dead with it's head pointed into the gravel. Within the next 2 hours, I watched the other 2 fall forward and swim with thier tail pointing up until they both stuck thier heads in the gravel, just like the other one. Does anyone know what was wrong? Was it swim bladder? How do I prevent whatever it was? Oh, yeah, forgot to say, the barbs were ine, and don't seem to be getting sick. Weird, huh?

Do glass cat have scales?  Most treatments are poisonuos to scaleless cats.  They need very specific treatments.  Go to www.planetcatfish.com (?)  Ihave it bookmarked and I don't know how to put links into text.  But planetcatfish is a wonderful site and I'm sure you can get the answers you need.

Sorry to hear 'bout yer fish.

Actually, they weren't the glass catfish, but the other kind, you know, the kind that they somtimes inject paint into >:(. I don't think it was the treatment, because I used it before and they were fine.  ??? Thanks, though.

Were these actually painted or were they just regular glass fish?  Painted ones are much more susceptible to disease.  We had some when we were naive and thought that the colors were natural.

We also had similar problems, however, we had some whose heart muscles exploded and you could see the damage inside the body, as well as the pool of blood leftover.  Not sure if that might be similar circumstances, but might shed some light.  Hope it helps.
