Wet Dry Difference?

I am looking at gettting an Ehiem 2227 or 2026. The 2227 is a wet/dry filter. What is the difference? Benefit?

Have you looked at Eheim's website? It looks like the wet/dry would be an excellent bio-filter... Very good question! My answer would be in the form of a question, "Is the 2227 meant to be used alone as a complete canister filter?"

Thanks for the reply. I think someone out there should know what the benefits are of a Wet/Dry compared to one that isn't.

how they do it?

If that is enclosed system how that can be considered wet/dry filter? Maybe we should investigate first what is considered true wet/dry filter system. They say: “…filter is bi-directional allowing for extended contact time between bacteria colonies, oxygen …”. “…Exchange of oxygen and CO2 is accomplished by means of displacement through the specially designed breathing tube...”.
I guess they pump in air and CO2 and that has to be relieved at the top somewhere but they do not provide too many details.
