I was just wondering what you guys think of these filters, ones with bioballs. Do they keep the water crystal clear?

I currently have a eheim cannister 2028 and an emperor 400, but the water is cloudy.
I have a 100 gallon tank with 2 kois and 4 goldfish.
I know the kois are messy but when I had just a fluval 404 and one overhang, the water was crystal clear.
The fluval broke down on me 3 times and I had enough of it, so i stopped using it.

Thanks,

yep...either a 25% change every week or a 50% change every other week. What kind of food are you using. I know with my cichlids, the cichlid sticks I use cloud the water pretty good too.

Also, check the intake tubes for crud. If they have not been cleaned out in a while, you may be reducing your water flow by as much as 35%.
