hello all,

about a 2 weeks ago i purchased 5 zebra danios and within hours i saw that they were mating and really showing of to eachother. i then read on another forum that they are very prolific breeders and will easily spawn but their eggs and fry are extremely small.

what are the chances that theyre eggs will hatch if they release any that ill be able to find them and raise them ?? or will they be to small and get eaten ?

thanks in advance for any input :)

Usually when breeding danios, the parents are put in their own breeding tank, and once they have spawned the adults are then removed and the fry grow out in the breeding tank. They will get eaten by the zebras and everyone else in your 31g, unfortunately.

Marbles are exactly the kind of floor covering to use. A couple of small danios would be okay for some time in a 5g. Maybe have the 5g ready, and observe how they breed in the comunity tank first to get a sense of their 'pattern'.
