I feed my community tank basic flake food. I was interested in getting cories and was wondering if they would eat the same food? Or would I need to purchase special food specifically for the cories?

Thanks

I never have buy special food for my cories, I just make sure that I give out enough food so that some sinks to the bottom. Of course you have to be careful with this kind of feeding, it is easy to overfeed. I have even seen cories swim up into the middle of the tank to catch some food floating down.

If you are worried about not feeding enough or over feeding, it won't hurt to have sinking pellets, your other fish will probably like to pick on them sometimes for fun.

I like to give sinking pellets about twice a week to subliment what flake the cories might get. Shrimp pellets are nice, but I also provide a variety of different "bottom feeder" tablets and algae waffers.

I feed mine Wardley shrimp pellets as the flakes I put in at feeding time have no chance to make it to the bottom. My danios and platys make quick work of the flakes then begin attacking the shrimp pellets anyways, lol.
