What Filter Should I Buy?

The filter is for a 90 gallon tank which currently has an Emp 280, a Fluval 304, and a 350 magnum for filtration. The magnum is running ver poorly and I don't want to fix it so i am just going to buy a new filter. The Fluval 404's are on sale this month at the LFS for very cheap so I was thinking of buying one. What would be a better filtration combo: Fluval 304 + 2 Emp 280's OR Fluval 304 + Emp 280 + Fuval 404? I already have 1 Fluval 304 and 1 Emp 280, so please vote above and tell me which would the best third filter to buy. If you have any comments, please post them! Thanks

If just for the convenience of not having to buy two diff brands of filter cartridges I would go with the emperor since you already have one.

I used this rationale to convince the wife that I needed 2 Emperor 400s

a typical canister is better than a hob, so there is no real comparison to make.....other than the fact that i cant stand fluvals i wouldnt have been able to vote.

for the same money a filstar or a via-aqua are better options IMO.

Managuense is right why dont you price a filstar xp3 on big als online probaly equal or less to a fluval 404.

Well fo me in Canada it's more than $90 extra for the XP3 compared to the 404. At Big Al's Canada site the XP3 is $189.99 cdn+shipping and my lfs has the 404 for $100.

newer fluvals do a decent jon, 100x better than the 03 models, emporers are becomin extinct in canada from what im seeing.

Super Pet also carries Emperor 400's...

for what it's worth I feel that the Filstar series are more economical than the Fluvals because you can pretty much put anything in them and you aren't limited to the odd size sponges Fluvals have.
plus the filstar is a better filter IMO and worth the extra $89

For my 90 I finally dished out the $97 (delivered) for an eheim 2215 on ebay. They have a 2217 for $135 delivered too. either one will work, and from what I've read, they last longer too.
