What in the world???

As many of you know, I work at PetSmart. A lady came in today with a little red wag platy that she got from us maybe a month and a half ago. Right behind it's dorsal fin, it had a black splotch, and it's scales were raised up, the typical "pinecone" look....now what could this be? It was just a little splotch on it's back, and the rest of it looked fine.

Dropsy occurs more so in the belly region with clamped fins, right?? So what in the world could this be???

It looked like some sort of tumor, but can't be an ulcer, because there wasn't an open sore, right?

Okay, great. I wasn't sure what it was, so I didn't know what to send her home with. She's supposed to call me tomorrow and see what you guys told me. I told her to get onto this site herself and check it out, if she didn't want to wait till tomorrow. Thanks bunchies!
