What is it called?

In my fist fish tank (10 gallons), I had a couple of Darf Gouramis. After almost a year, the female developped some sort of white ''fluffy'' mold on her tail and it eventually fell off completely and she died . This process took about two weeks. My lfs sold me some stuff to put in the water and I unfortunatelly don't remember the name of it. Does anyone know what its called and how it happened?

Are you asking what the disease is called or what the medication is called? If it's the medication, I have no way of knowing what the store sold you.

How it happened:
Was the tank cycled?
Were you doing weekly water changes?
Was the temperature correct?
Were you overfeeding?
Were the gouramis fighting?
Were there other fish in the tank, too?

You might be able to work out why it happened if you think about some of these questions

Sorry for not putting all the details!
-The tank was fully cicled
-There was a corycat and a small angelfish with the Dwarf Gouramis
-I don't think I was overfeeding
-The male was chasing her on rare occasions
-The pH and temperature were normal
-Water change on a weekly basis (about 20%)
Hope this help, and I'm looking for the name of the disease...not the medication.

Fin/tail rot?
