What is the BWM of MH Lighting

Hi;

I'm considering a MH lighting setup on a new L48” x W24” x D30” planted Discus tank with substrate heating and Co2 injection. My research on the web gives me the perception that Giesemann from Germany is the BMW or Mercedes of MH Lighting rigs. First they are made from Aluminum, have a very nice finish, very quiet because there are no fans and the ballast are pretty quiet and efficient as well.

I’m thinking I need about 350W of light to illuminate a 47” * 23” * 26” / 1728 * 6.23 * 1.20 = 122 US Gallons. That would give me approximately 2.9 Watts/Gallon.

Wondering if the Giesemann System 230 Eco/Plus pendant unit which comes with either 2 x 150W or 2x 250W bulbs can take 2 x 175W 6500K Iwasaki bulbs. If not, I will have to go with the 2 x 150W and add one or two 54W T5s to get the total wattage in the 350W range.

1. Is Gieseman really top of the line or should I consider other brands?
2. Can I use 175W bulbs in a 150W or 250W system?
3. Any recommendations on getting the best lights money can buy?

Thanks for your responses
