What is this???

Hey everyone. I noticed a couple days ago that my female ram's tail was kinda of split in towards the top. I first thought it was fin rot but none of the pictures I saw looked nothing like this. It just looks like a rectangle between her tail with a white thing at the end. I have nothing that would possibly nip at her tail, 2 otos and 2 ADF's. The pic is sort of blurry but the tail is clear to see. Here it is:

Does anyone know what this could be?

Would an oto or an ADF nip at the tail? This wasn't there when I bought her and it was just 2 days ago that I noticed it.

i dont think so but i was thinking about it but on another site someone said that there fishes tail snagged on something and ripped it.i doubt the adf did it and i cant picture an otto doing it so im going to go look up diseases

Tetracycline, Maracyn or Maracyn Two should help

It's only a rip in the fin. A little Melafix should work, you shouldn't need anything stronger. Always be extremely careful in medicating rams, as they don't tolerate medications well (i.e. they keel over and die with many meds).

I have to agree, start with Melafix and lots of aeration. Also add Pimafix as well. They work well together to speed up healing. Both are not true meds, so the rams will handle it just fine.
