Ok I'm my last thread i learned it's better to have sand than gravel. Ok so my problem is i have a 30 gallon tank that has 4 fishes and 4 hermit crabs currently living in it, so i set it up with gravel (oops) so now i want to take it out and put sand, so what would be the best way of doing that with out loosing my fish or at least as possible *SUPERSMIL, i was planing on using my current water,

Note I have not done this but this is what I would do:

Rinse sand extremely good to keep the sand storm down (though that will be somewhat unavoidable). Drain about 3/4's of the water out of the tank to a container. Put a heater and airstone in the container and the fish/inverts. Remove gravel. Put the sand in. It would help greatly to get a cup of sand from a running tank to seed the new sand with good bacteria. Put rocks back in and slowly siphon water back in to keep sand from being disturbed to much. When water is low in the container put the fish and inverts back in and finish siphoning water back into tank.
