Most aquarium bulbs are T-12's,right?

depends on how big. the ones for small aquariums, yes. the ones for large, depends on the manufacturer, type of hood, etc.

the t-12's are smaller, i believe it is 1" in diameter, where t-8's are 1 1/2", like the ones you usually see being used for home and office lighting.

Other way around Wonderwoman! T-12's are the normal fluorescents and the t-8's are the smaller diameter fluorescents!

redturqoise is correct - T8s are the thinner ones. I'm currently finding out that none of the usual places (lfs, petco) carry the T8s in the 36" variety, so I'm off to home despot.
