I have a spare 10 gallon fresh water tank lying on the floor next to my 33 gallon and i have nothing in it right now. I would like some feedback as to what to put in it in the near future. It has a sand substrate, sponge filter, heater and a divider in the middle which could be used to turn it into 2 5 gallon sections. It has no hood or stand at the moment, but i will probably get that stuff if I decide to go ahead with a project. What fish, plants or other aquatic life would u put in it?  *crazysmiley*

I agree with Panther.... you will need a better filter....... an aquaclear mini would work out well. Well, anyway .... i have a pair of Sparkling Panchanx killis in my ten gallon with some ghost shrimp. The killifish seem to be fine as well as the ghost. Other killis would work out well also.

                    Good luck :)

Thanks for leaving your comments, it's much appreciated! I strongly agree on replacing the sponge filter with an AC mini. A couple of rams is a good idea, then again so is a heavy planted tank with neons. I alwasys wanted to try that. Hmmm, the possibilities are endless. Within reason that is. :D

In my 33g fresh I have 2 zebra danios, 5 "long blue fin" danios, 1 fake sae, 3 panda cories, 2 clown loaches and 2 sunset platys that were surviving fry from a breeding pair that I had which originally cycled the tank for me. The tank is moderately planted with an amazon sword, java fern, sunset hygrophilia, and a couple of other plants which i dont even know the name of, but they seem to be doing very well. On the right side of the tank away from the filter there is a large piece of vertical drift wood with a hole in the center that my clown loaches and sae like to hide in.

Hmmm.. How about, 3 kuhli loaches, and 6-8 small tetras (neons, black neons, cardinals, lemons) As for plants, some contortunist vals, some water sprite, some micro swords (tennelles) some drift wood, java moss, and an anubias?

I would skip on the micro swords, they need strong lighting. Anubias sound good as well as the vals, water sprite, and java moss..... but i would also suggest a sword as a "center piece" plant 8)

If lighting becomes a problem due to requirements of certain types of plants, I can always make a diy hood for the tank which would cater to the specific plants in need of extra light.
I guess it depends how much time and money I end up putting into it. Can't wait to get the project started when I get some funds and time together so I can update you guys on how it went.
