What type of bulb? Do you think I broke it?

Hi,

Picked up the 130g tank yesterday. The lighting system I have says: "Requires 55W Instant Start Lamp with 2G11B." I see a bunch of different 55W lamps at www.thatfishplace.com. Can I use any of the 55W lamps or is it one special type?

Also, I had the housing think sitting on the kitchen table and my puppy got caught on the cord and pulled it to the groud. Do you think it survived?

Okay, looking at these bulbs more I think I've narrowed down my choices. This is a straight pin arrangement so based on that little warning above do I use: Actinic, 10000K or 50/50. If it is my choice what would be best?

Thanks,
Gretchen

Only way to know for sure is to try it. Did it not come with any bulbs? I've dropped my lighting housing a couple times (oops) but it seems to still be working...good way to break bulbs though -=sigh=-

Dunno on the type of bulb...that doesn't mean much to me. If its not too huge and clumsy I might take it in to a hardware store...someone in the lighting department ought to be able to tell you if that is a specific type of light or if its just a fancy way of saying you need a 55w bulb.

the actinics are a dark dark blue and will look very bright (think marine), the 50/50 will be in between, and the 10000k will be whiter and a little warmer than the actinic, more like a normal bulb...if you arent doing plants or anything it doesnt really matter, just that the fish will probably prefer the 10000k to the actinic would be my guess, and i doubt the puppy broke the fixture...ive knocked mine off the counter before without it breaking
