I bought a catfish a year ago, and I would like to know what it is. The store called it a leopard catfish, but I don't think that's right. It has the general body shape of a bullhead. The tail is paddle shaped...there is no indent in the middle, and it is slightly curved outwards. It is tan with a white belly. There are black spots all over the body, small at the head but getting larger towards the tail. The tail has two vertical black bars on it. Right now it is about 2.5 inches long.

I'd appreciate any information about what type it is and if it requires any special care. I do have catfish pellets for it, and it also eats flake food and freeze dried blood worms.

Liosomadoras onconis - Jaguar Catfish? Real, real nice fish. Not too big (10 inches max), not too aggressive.
Not super common in shops, but turn up pretty often. Very underrated character fish which I would buy if I was buying fish now

It's not liosomadoras oncinis...the spots are smaller and the head shape is different. The head is wide and flat, not like a cory or a pleco, and it has a slit mouth, not a sucker.

Thanks for the tip to planetcatfish.com
I tried looking it up there, but couldn't find a family with the same body shape.

My catfish is megalechis thoracata, a tail bar armoured catfish.

Thanks for the tip to check there. Planetcatfish helped me out a bunch.
