whats wrong with my crab???

my scarlett crab has been walking around without his shell all day, he has about 10 empty shells in the tank to chose from. has this happened to anyone else?

I have never seen it done (for a prolonged time, there vulnerable in this state)

Are there shells that are larger than the previouse one? Is it the only reef hermit in the tank or are there miltiple?

yeah, there are plenty of bigger shells for him to choose from, he was in one that seemed pretty roomy, but he just dropped it and started walking around with nothing. there are about 10 other various kinds of crabs in there and a tomato clown and chromis, they arent bothering him at all though.

Yeah one of mine did that (ha limi noticed before I remembered)... took him a few days but he finally found a shell.
