105w (500w eq) - 11 inches length.

That doesn't sound quite right. Perhaps take it to a local fish store and see if they have the right bulb.

Something with that wattage should be around 40 inches long.

It's probably this bulb:

105W 120V Spiral Medium Base

No idea if it would work in an aquarium hood. It is 11 1/2 inches long, 105W CFL, replacing a 500W incandescent bulb. If it replaces a 500W incandescent bulb, I can't see an aquarium hood handling that.

105W over a 10gallon tank, wow, 10.5WPG, imagine the algae I could grow!!

Where to buy it in Canada, no idea.

I am making my own hood for tank and under table for plant buckets(frys) and two bulb hood for 46gal bow tank. if i finish it i will show you , first i need 3 105w cfl bulbs
