for equipment, 2 good ones i know of are...
www.bigalsonline.com
www.petco.com
i've only ordered from the latter though.

as for fish, i know of 1...
www.aquariumfish.net
i've never ordered from this one.

hmm, i've never ordered fish online but i think the shipping cost is like $30. not sure, about that.

go to yahoo and type in "fish for sale" or something like that and you'll get a lot of hits.

Shipping is always the killer :( Usually $30 -$40 so it doesn't really make sense unless you're stocking an entire tank or there is something that you're just dying to have (or it's an expensive fish).

Places I have seen selling fish: www.aquabid.com, www.aquariumstuffers.com, www.liveaquaria.com and www.fish2u.com.

Local fish club auctions are sometimes worth a trip. We drove 3 hours each way to an auction, but the fish and plants available made it worthwhile.

I assume you're after more africans, so if you do a google search on genus names you'll usually get a list of online sellers. I have no idea which are good or bad.
Alternatively ask your lfs for a look at there stock list. If they let you do this don't make any smart comments about the cost, or you'll never do it again - they make little enough moneyas it is.

hmmm, 30 dollar shipping doesnt sound very fun to me, but thats thinking of all the stuff i can get with 30 bucks. my lfs's are usually on the sucky end when it comes to fish/supplies, but i make do, and i try to spread my money around(recently ive been going to the one in town because they have the best selection, employ people with disabilities, and theyre usually alot nicer then the people at the other lfs's, although there fish run a bit pricey)

not having a credit card also limits you to your local lfs's;)

hey, if you order from jeff in nj and live in ks like me it is $77 s&h for 6-60 fish overnight ups, beleive me, his fish are high quality too, all you need is a money order for cod.and if you order enough it will pay off b/c the fish themselves aren't expensive, but by the time you figure in all you pay at the lfs, you will probably find that you are getting a better deal, and more importantly better fish.

I always try to find breeders in my surrounding area... farthest I drove to get some fish was about 1.5hours... this was to pick up some synodontis petricola dwarfs. i paid $12 a piece when the lfs usually has them for over $30...

try searching around on the net to find local people in your area that breed and import fish. you could aslo check and see if you have any local fish clubs in your area as they usually have members that breed fish. If I remember correctly there is a club in Louisville.
