Where to put filter's on 50 gal

i have a whisper 30 and a bio wheel for a 20 gal. do i put them togeather or do i put one on each side

they'll filter the whole tank better if more spread apart, but it won't make an incredibly huge difference if they are together. Me, I would put one on each end..

I would put it on one end. From my experience is that fish tend to stay away from the tube that sucks water in, so if you two tubes in both ends you'll have two less places for fish to swim freely. The upside on having one each on both ends is water agitation equals more oxygen in water. But you can achieve this gain by using a bubbler or powerhead.
