I've had this cory for a few months now and i was pretty sure i knew which variety it was (Julii) but since aquiring a pretty indepth fish book i'm not so sure. It seems to resemble bits of several varieties. Maybe he just has odd markings. Hope you can confirm that my original idea was right. What do you think?!

hmm, seems to me it fits more into this description:
paleatus : dark green olive with reflections metallques; large black spots being based with the edge lines; dorsal fins, caudal and anal transparent with greenish reflections and black spots. you think?

imho, i think alot of the cory's on line are mislabled. i have julis and they're more mottled with an irredecent greenish hue. of course, i could very well be wrong too *shrugs*.

The black mark on the top of the fin and the line of larger spots running down the lateral line of the fish tells me that this fish is a Leopard Corydoras (Coryadorus Jullii)

hope this helps :)

It's not a Paleatus. I've got one of them and they've got much larger spots located on their bodies.

Hm, I was looking at a pic of a Julii and it looks similiar to yours, although it is lighter in color and it's spots are not as thick and oddly shaped. They seem to be more circular than yours.

There were a few species I found that it might be:
Sipaliwini:

Haraldschultzi:

Gomesi:

Hope I helped. ^^;;

yep, i was wrong! lepoard it is, however, while doing some research on this i noticed alot of sites posting pics of julli and leapard corys as the same fish.

now i gotta figure out what, in fact, mine are. the petshop had them labeled as julli.

I just looked around on www.planetcatfish.com, and it seems it is a Corydoras trilineatus. I have the same one.

As far as I can work out, the only difference is that on the Julii, there are spots on the forehead instead of the joined-up lines. I guess the petshops have it wrong :( (or maybe I do)

Both the Julii and Trilineatus have the black spot on the dorsal fin and the same lines running down their sides.

I feel better knowing that my little fish doesnt just confused me.
We'll agree on it being a Leopard Cory then....atleast i can tell what my other cory is, he's a peppered through and through!

Thanks for your time and advice.
