Turns out the 'Custom work' isn't as crazy as I thought. After my last post, I came across something interesting... not sure aboput whispers, but people have successfully mounted biowheels on Aqua Clear filters, or at least the 500/110. Installing biowheel on AC 110 Meaure your filter's outtake, and measure some biowheels; if you can find one the right size, it should be fairly easy.
