White chalky substance on outside of tank?

I have a ten gallon tank with two ghost shrimp,one mystery snail and one betta.

I noticed as of the 4/18 that around the top edge and by the filture that my tank is getting a white dry chalky substance,that isn't hard to get off but can be if left there for to long.

Can anyone tell me what it is? and how I can get rid of it or stop it from accuring?

Sounds like mineral deposits from water evaporation. I wipe mine off with just a clean soft cloth (no soap).

Yeah, that sounds a lot like hard water (mineral) deposits. I just clean it with a sponge (dipped in old tank water of course) and some scrubbing. It's completely normal.
