I have some australian rainbows(i think) they have been doing great. I deployed and they grew like wild fire, they are almost 2 inches in length and 1 inch tall always eating and swimming. All appear healthy and active to include the biggest one who has the white spots.

I thought this was ick at first but i watched fish and he isn't scrapping or dropping on bottom or sluggish. He is happy and active and appears normal. But the spot is on his dorsal fin, the fin on right side of body and on his nose. They are not tiny dots but rather like a qtip looking blot. According to the chart form the macryn box i have, it says true fungis. I am going to be buying some meds to treat this as it is true fungis. None of my other fish show symptoms but i will keep eye on them all. My question is, has anyone used this product? Will it harm my clown, yo yo and horseface loaches? Will i have to remove the carbon from filter or just treat and change water at end? The site online doesn't tell to much on how to use product just shows how much and how big a bottle it is.

I've used Maracyn before with no problems for loaches. If at all possible, treat the rainbows in another tank.

As far as I remember, rainbows are susceptible to infections on their mouths. I'm not sure what the usual treatment is. A mix of Maracyn and Maracyn Two will usually knock out most fungal and bacterial conditions. Maracyn Two can reduce your biofilter, so make sure you keep an eye on ammonia and nitrites if you use it.

Mardel often changes the packaging or form of medication (pills, powder, liquid). It's usually a seven-day course of the antibiotics, followed by a water change. I'm not sure about carbon removal.
