White fur?!

I've set up a a new tank for fry (if they come along!) and on the heater on the sucker part, it's got this horrible white fur stuff. It's soft and gunky and even. Is it just the rubber or something else?

Will it be a problem for the fry if so, what do I do?

It's a 10g with real plants, there are a few snails in there.

its just some slime algae growth it will not be a problem.

I have 5 small fish, 1 neon, 1 glofish, 1 ? striped and 2 ?? ciclids I think... Anyway, the smallest of the last ones lays on the bottom of the tank all the time and the larger ones stays right above her. There is yucky fuzzy-looking stuff all over the bottom of my tank. This has been going on for about a week. What is it and what do I do. I'm 57 and never had fish before. My son got me a small aquarium for my birthday.

Cichlids are WAY too big to be in a small aquarium. Often, they need at least 55 gallons and some of the more aggressive or larger ones need even more! Your tank is definitely not cycled. I suggest you start a new thread.
