I am at a loss... We have a wierd mold-like thing growing in our betta tanks. The weird part is that its only growing on the suction cups that hold the heaters and filter. I don't *think* its affecting the fish... it just looks icky. I don't even know what to look up to figure out what it is. Does anyone have any ideas what this could be?

Thanks everyone! Im glad to hear that its harmless & what we've been doing is the right thing. I love this place! My son took down his little tank, as Betta Joe died last week ( I'll keep an eye on the other tank & post a picture just to be sure. We just did a water change so there's nothing there right now. Thanks again!

The white stuff on plastic is usually calcium deposits, especially if you have harder water. You can just rub it off, it's harmless.
