I had a tiger barb that had a white spot on him (missing scales) and looks like he's been picked on a bit like they were fighting.. I thought nothing of it and went to the LFS to get something to help with the missing scales...
I've been up 24 + hours now, so my brain cells are just not responding and instead of really reading and thinking about what I bought, I ended up bringing Melafix home instead of the stuff that had the little pictures that it treats missing scales...
In the end it turns out to be a good thing, because it seems to be a bacterial infection.. I see white stringy poop...
I have the barb in a hospital tank with his first treatment of melafix now. The question is should I treat the whole tank he was in even though no one else is experiencing the symptoms. The only thing that has changed in the tank recently is the normal W/C and I added new plants (a few stalks of anachris) from my LFS... could the bacteria have come from the plants?
Any suggestions appreciated as i have never had to treat fish for anything... not even ick!
