In the tank where my blue cray just died, my red rainbow shark has got these white spots...not raised, not "salt" so I know it's not ich...they kinda look like he scraped himself on the rocks...but I know that's probably not the case. He's got a few spots over his right eye, and 1 spot under his left. Here are some pics...I wonder if whatever it is could be what killed my cray?

Sharkey seems perfectly normal, no fast breathing, no clamped fins...water parameters are all good...did a water change yesterday.

Any ideas?

That was going to be my suggestion Lotus, It looks like your shark may have been nipped a few times. Some fish really like going after eyes, so all the marks around the eyes shouldn't be that big of a shocker. I would watch the tank and see if any fish are acting aggressive towards your shark. I would just make sure the fish keeps a good slime coat(conditioning salt or stress coat). Keep him comfy and let the spots heal. Best of luck to you and sharkey.

The spots above the eye are in fact different from the spot below the other eye. As for him getting into a fight...he's really not all that aggressive...never has been. He'll chase some of the barbs sometimes, but then they all go their separate ways.

Well, here we area almost a week later, and they're no better, no worse. He's still swimming around as usual...always lookin around for something to eat. No change in appetite, not scratching, not acting strange, and not any more shy than usual. The whole thing is just weird...
