why they are used to beat each other up?

like most fish there is a certain amount of room which they occupy in nature.in our aquariums this space is reduced greatly even in the largest aquariums so when two of the same same fish meet in nature one would just be chased off.but not in an aquarium,there is a limited space and the offending fish offten can't get out of sight in time and the defending fish will attack untill the threat has been eliminated.
