That first one is just TERRIBLE. The fish vase isn't as bad as the "bubble gear" but still terrible.

I believe there were lots of e-mails to that company a while back. We had a thread here, and I saw a similar one on other fish boards, too. It seems they just ignore e-mails asking them (or telling them) to stop.

Not only is this disturbingly cruel, but gross! I love my bettas, but wouldn't want to carry around its nasty water (not to mention a dead fish :/).

People are gonna hate me for this, but I still don't see what's so horrible about having a betta in a vase. As long as you still feed him and clean the water, and keep the roots trimmed, wouldn't it be like having a plant in an aquarium? My high school Math teacher had one all the time I went to high school. Of course it was a decent sized vase, far bigger than the little 2 betta bowls you see in stores.

Dark Elf- No one has a problem with keeping a betta in a vase with a plant, as long as the vase is decent sized, the betta gets fed, roots get trimmed, and the water is changed regularly . Its not the set-up that's the problem, its the lack of care that the instructions generally provide....and of course there has to be a gap between the water and lid for air.

another problem is that bettas do jump, and ive heard from various people who had the vase thing that they walk to it one day and the betta is gone

well i dont see why you cant just go out and get a little tank they dont breakthe bank and make your fish sooooo much happier

Mine is in a 2 gallon right now, making small bubble nest and flaring everwhere I hope that means he's happy.
