I have a 5.5 gal planted tank and even though i washed the plants off and soaked them i still managed to let a few snails in and now there is more than a few i was goin to add a ghost shrimp and was just wondering if they would eat the snails (hoping more than wondering)

No, they won't eat snails... sorry :(

Snails tend to multiply more when there is food available. Making sure there isn't food for them will help control the population. A shrimp should help out by making less food available for them. Pond and ramshorn snails aren't really a bad thing in a tank :)

If you really hate the snails... and you only have an oto in there. Take the oto out, and treat the tank for snails. Potassium permanganate or ammonia at 8ppm should kill the snails, without harming the plants. There is also Had-a-snail, but I have never used it and I don't know if it's plant safe.

Edit: Had a Snail will probably kill your plants. :(
