will cons eat cories?

i'm looking into getting another tank, then transfering my evil tiger barbs to that tank
then, in my 20g, i add maybe 1 or 2 cons--i was wondering if the cons would ignore the cories and the otto, or if they would just pig out....

well.... you'd have slaughtered tiger barbs, and everything else would be killed aswell

A mated pair of cons will kill everything else, most likely.

i have 2 ottos, and i a yellow lab, in with my pair of convicts, they only get mad at the yellow gets closer toward theyre fry, then just push him back, an he stays away. other than that, id say theyre pretty peaceful. just very watchful when mating.

Think yourself lucky. Lots of cichlids think it amusing to pester cories to death, and I'd bet con's are in that list. Usually the dorsal fin is the first to go.

Cons wont actually eat corries but will bully them to death. Coz corries are substrate dwellers and the probability of a territory prob is maximum. So i wont put it in with a con.

They will only pick on them a bit.I have had a 1 inch cory cat in the same tank as a breeding pair of 4 inch cons and they only did minor damage.

oscarowner...you have a 9 inch oscar in a 29 gallon...thats WAY too small for an oscar...one oscar needs AT LEAST 55 gallons...are you planning on getting him a bigger home in the near future?

Well I am putting him in a 55 gallon ina month.Along with his little friend Polly the parrot fish.I am going to put the 5 cons in the 29.I am getting another 29 (doudle stand)and putting discus in it.

first of all, just to let you know...you can only have 2 discus in a 29 gallon anyways, 5 convicts in a 29 gallon? youre gunna have serious problems when two pair off...are you keeping them all?
