I don't think I'd try to put african cichlids into a 10gal, unless they were shellies or other small species. Puffers are pretty aggressive, so you'd end up with dead fish.

NO i would not do that. I have a few Africans and they even pick on my 2 Convicts, and Convicts are very aggressive.

Another one for no, Puffers with anything are a bad combination cause they are terrible fin nippers. Now when you put them with something that has no probem turning around and taking a chunk out of them you have some real problems. Plus, puffers are poisoness. Your cichlid takes a big enough chunk out and its done. SO ANother for don't do it.

puffers are vicious, but enough african cichlids would kill a puffer if it kept attacking them (ive seen it). puffers are a good solitary fish. so to avoid any casualties dont mix these fish. and a ten gal isnt big enough to put a lot of fish in.

Actually, I wouldn't ever put Africans in a 10g. Puffers are alright as long as they are some type of dwarf puffer, but for cichlids unless dwarf cichlids.........no way.

same here, Africans in a small tank....is not a good combination. They need space. I would say no less than 25 gal.

and even with that your looking at about only 2 and thats if they get along. I would do a 55 standard. You could get away with 10 with enough space and hidding spaces in there.

Yeah, I am about to upgrade from a 25 Gal when i get a chance and all i can fit is 2 Convicts and 1 African. I just need to work the upgrades into the budget.
