Sounds a lot more aestically pleasing than taping a backing on. Do they make coloform window tints? I think they do, the type that stick on the glass but require no glue or ahesive. It sounds like a really cool idea.

from what I've seen, the tint has a backing that is pulled off, then it is put on a wet surface that it is to be stuck to.... then wiped so as to eliminate the excess water....

Not sure about coloform, will have to ask around about that.

I'd say go for it. I've done several tanks that way with the limo tint. If you don't like it, you can peel it off. Application on something square like an aquarium is pretty easy. The car windows are a lot harder. Just make sure you read the directions really well. If you have any questions, if you decide to do it, just send me an email. Good Luck

There are smoke, grey and black colored tints on sale if you search for "colored window tints" now I am thinking about those picture window decorations like for pickup trucks. Wonder if that would work well. They have flames, eagles, flags, etc. Certainly would be different from the regular background taped on.

You can get normal tinting for house windows and stuff at home depot or lowes that adhere to wet surfaces.
I dont know how well it will work on a fish tank but they work well on our windows.
