Ok....could someone please explain to me the process of setting up an automatic lighting system. Or if you know of a good simple website that explains it step by step.

What equipment is needed etc.

Thanx

Why would you wire lights directly in a timer when you could just plug them in? Most timers I have seen have only one plug in, so you could just get a cheap surge strip and then plug your lights into that. Around here that would cost less than $20.

timers are easy to set up, like orion said

1.plug surge strip into timer
2.plug lights into surge strip
3.plug timer into wall outlet and turn lights on

*dont plug filters/airpumps into surge strip, that would extremely suck! :D

you can find timers and surge strips for cheap at Home Depot too all under $20.

Ha yeah regular appliance timers are around $5, and I suppose you could find a surge protector which i havent because i have 4 timers. One for every tank. So i suggest a timer and a surge protector so you can hook up a few fish tanks to the one timer, thats if they are all located next to each other or you could always use extention cords. Ha good luck
