xp2 and noise

I have an xp2 filter that is about 6 months old. Ever since I got it my only complaint has been the noise, it is as loud as my refrigerator and it has caused me to start sleeping with my door shut so it doesn't bother me. It is really unacceptable to me.

So I have talked with Rena's tech support, and they have offered to replace it, if I send it in. I have to pay shipping both ways, and I have no way to know if it is really louder then the one I will get back.

So my question is, how loud are the xp2's when they are working correctly. Is it worth sending in, or should I just remember to not buy from the cheapest company next time and get an Eheim when I can afford it?

P.S. I have tried all the things you are supposed to do to make it more quite. (get all the air out and so on.)

Well my suggestion would be to get the air out. If you already have tried this I'm pretty sure its a defect. I currently have a XP3 on my 90 and it's very quiet.

Alot of people here in the UK have complained about the noise of the Rena XP filters.

You might want to take up their offer of a replacement

no kidding. my Xp1 has been silent for over 2 years. it's actually quieter than my Eheim 2226.
