Ok, so for the past week or so my fire fish has hidden and not eaten, yesterday i got to the point that this fish is gonna die or i cath him and get him back to the lfs. I got to the lfs to talk to the guy and he says he cant take him now because of a busted tank and new additions he was verrrry busy. He was too, so I talked to one old guy that was kinda being weird and he tells me put a clownfish in there, that will draw out the fire fish. well, i bought a false perc and ordered a emerald crab. I took a good 30-45 minutes acclimating him, also I am lucky this guy keeps his tanks like real show tanks, not just open like most. anyway i get him in there and the clown is great, he is so active and just a huge show off. has already made himself a real "charicter". And sure enough my fire fish has been out all day since i put frozen bloodworms in there, he ate a huge amount for his size. and since he hadnt eaten for a week i fed him a bit extra, and the clown is like a vacume. so today i get the crab and acclimate him and he goes right to work on the algae and anything else in his unfortunate path. within one hour, my tank went from like a wheat feild to a well groomed soccer feild. wow this buger is fast. so fast i may have to keep him fed a lil bit. so i hear they eat sea weed and meaty food, i watched him devour bloodworm when i fed them today. what do yall recomend supplementing him with and what will really be good for the other fish? I have beed giving the fish blood worms and a little bit of brine shrimp.

heres the prob. the crab tends to snap at the fish anytime they get close. And the fire fish is actually antagonizing him by getting real close and twitchin his fin then darting in circles around him. is this a problem to the other fish or are they ok. cuz that crab snaps eveytime they get close. im not worried so much about the firefish as the clown(hes not so bright,...)

any sugestions?

*nudge nudge* psst prego, It's a salt tank. They stay small enough to not be a real threat.

As long as your tank is large enough for the fish to get out of his way I wouldn't think it would be a problem.

EC's can be problematic for smaller, slower bottom dwelling fish, my EC's pick up my hermits and bash them on the sand when there is food near by *crazysmil , just to keep the hermits from getting to it first....I also lost a green clown goby to my EC...watched my crqab dragging the GCG's limp body across the sand  ,so IMO yeah they can be dangerous to fish

i have not read of it being a natuarl food, but neither is flakes and crap. its mosquito larvae i think. i basicly have used it to motivate the firefish to eat, they really seem to like it. but i have some brine and nysid shrimp cubes, but for as little food i need its a pain getting a little off the cubes

Blood worms should not be a staple in their diet, neither should brine shrimp which I think someone called them fish doritos...... mysis is good but if you only have a few fish a really good quality flake food alternated with the mysis and say Formula One frozen is good. Just make sure you don't overfeed as this will cause algae to bloom and increase your nitrates and phosphates.

If they won't take flake, good luck with the granules/pellets. All my fish will eat the flake, and none even try the pellets.

Try sticking the entire little frozen food cube into the water until enough thaws off, and then just pull it out and refreeze. The clown might even eat right from your hand.
