yellow lab fry

my yellow lab has finally let her fry out and there are 13 of them which is strange cos i swear i read somewhere there have between 2 - 5????

nah she was seperated and put in a tank on her own as soon as i noticed eggs in her mouth. strange though huh?

13 is small. Mbuna can have upwards of 40 or so fry...I've heard of large females of some species having more.

Yeah 3-5 is waay lower then the normal number of fry...my female labs would spit anywhere from 15-27 (27 being highest) fry each time.

oh right ok i have read it somewhere accually a couple of places and a lfs told me god i wish they lernt more things ok guys thank you how long before there about a inch in size???

That depends on how big a tank you keep them in, feeding, and water quality.

they are in a 25L tank and i feed them 3 times a day im tryin to keep the water quality high but its hard cos they are sensitive to water changes.

25 litres, I assume, not a 25 long? If so, the tank is much too small to work for very long. They will quickly outgrow it, and you're going to have to upgrade it if you want them to grow at a good rate. Also, I don't see why they would be sensitive to water changes, unless there is something in your tap water that they don't like?

Yes, I would upgrade soon. Also 13 is about normal size. If I remember right they usually don't have very large litters. A max of about 30.

I can't wait till mine have babies. my peter davis did but it didn't go so well. the male the labs and dolphins ate them almost as soon as she spit them out. oh well when I get enough room I will get a spawning tank set up just for the fry.
