Ok, the kid at the LFS said these yellow polyps were super difficult and died in 3 months. Everything I find on the internet says to the contrary. They were also only 25 bucks, ten or fifteen on a rock. Think he was saying that cause he was confused, trying to get me to buy the more expensive zoos, or can yellow polyps be difficult?

Thanks Camaro. I really liked them and also the rock they were on would be perfect to place in the nook of the tonga branch. Plus at 25 dollars, that's hard to beat... I'm thinking of going back and buying the frag.

The zoos are doing great. All polyps are open and I fed em some mysis today, it was cool watching them catch the shrimp bits and close up on em.

Anyway, as my water and params are all stable, do you see any problem in getting another coral so soon after the button polyps introduction?

The yellow polyps were on a rock too large for what I had in mind. Instead I spent 52 bucks on a mat of GSP.

They opened up pretty fast and are looking good. I put them in the highest current area, where the sand makes a dune and the glass bottom is always present. It's awesome watching it wave, like the grass on the hill in The Thin Red Line.

The mat connects two rock pieces and you can see it extended way off its base. I'm hoping it will curve back down and colonize the shells I provided it... is that how it works?

thats pretty much how it works...it should spread quite rapidly given proper conditions...if you decide you do want the yellow polyps as well you could always take a hammer to the rock to make it fit and trade the other half in or place it somewhere else

Mine were growing like crazy till I used an aluminium based phosphate remover - it killed almost all of them in two or three days, and made all my zo's shut for a week.....
