ok, this all started about a month ago, when i came home from vacation. he had ich and finrot, and just sat at the bottom all day. for about 2 weeks, i added ich medicine, then finrot medicine. he got better, so i put him back in him 5 gallon tank. days later. he looked like he was about to die, he would move, nor eat, and his gills were inflamed. 
i started treating him with bettamax, and within 2 days he started to eat! the first time in about 1 1/2 weeks. he is now swimming around and looking almost completly better. he has been a real fighter, he could have died any of the 30 days he was sick, but he still tried.
if any1 has suggestions about what to do next, make a post. i appreciate it.
P.S. the betta is about a year and 4 months old.
