hi i picked up 2 yo yo loaches today at my lfs (just had them in) i was looking for a while so was glad to see them and got 2. they both whet into my 25 gallon tank. one big about 2' and the others just a baby i read that they like it better on there own so i though of moving the smaller one to my 10 gallon. is that better one in the 25 and one in the 10 or is it ok for them both to be in the 25?

BTW my rainbow shark chasers them for a bit but no damage is done i think the shark is being territorial.

ive always read they prefer to be in groups...i have a pair in my 29 gal and they do just fine...they chase each other around which is good b/c it means they arent chasing other fish

furthermore, i know angelfish had reported problems with her solitary yoyo chasing her other fish around, and it reached a point where she was going to get rid of it

sounds like a stroke of luck! i saw one cramped in a 10 gal with a red tail shark,2 tire track eels, and a 5-6 inch clown loach at the hospital last week. happy to see a tank, but i got mad when i saw how crowded it was(wanted to grab it and run hehehe;))

i havent been to the lfs in a while maybe theyll have some when i go (*crosses fingers:D)

I would definately go with groups on yoyos. My first yo-yo was the most vicious fish I have had. I read that once in groups they stop attacking other fish. Anyway that yo-yo died, I was sad for its loss, but somewhat relieved that it was no longer able to terorize other fish. Anyway my brothers were sad that the fish was gone, so my parents without asking me went and got another one and put it in my tank. This one is a little better, but still occasionaly attacks other fish. The moral of his story - Keep yo-yos together =)

You could try it alone, however. I think that they are like bettas, each with a different personality:) I just got my yoyo a little while ago (as of yet he is the only one) and he made best buds with my pictus!:p I mean, its almost pathetic. Where one goes, the other goes. I better not end up with a picyo;)....

cool, thanx everyone:D ill probably at least get 2 if i can find em. my cousin suggested them as my cichlid tank bottom feeder. hes kept em with oscars, so they should be able to handle a JD and convict, plus theres a lot of caves to hide in.

a picyo hehehe thats a good one leopardess:D

....or maybe a picyo catloach hehehe:D

females are aquatic devils but the males seem much more placid and tolerable.i have 4 yoyos, and the larger females stake out territory while the males just kinda cruse around.more than groups, micro territorys seem far more important.i keep my loaches in a 10 gallon but it's heavly decorated with wood that has lots of nooks and crannies that the loaches stuff themselves into.most all loaches are more comfortable when they have places to lounge in.without these places they are more inclined to harass fish.
