yo yo loaches with ich

yea..i just bought yo yo loaches and 2 days after being in QT they got ICH!

only med i have on hand is maracide, which contains malachite green and chitosan (that stuff thats in all of their biosphere stuff, about taking meds directly to fish) then that ...i heard this is bad for the loaches (the malachite green), so should i do half dosages? or go ahead and do the full dosage for ich

or should i go out and buy like kordon rid ich

suggestions would be appreciated! thaaankssss

We used copper safe when our loaches got ich. But only do half dose of that, or you could try raising the temp and using aquarium salt to treat the loaches. Just be careful in whatever treatment you use, and always start with half dose of anything for loaches.

I feel for you fobbybobby. I had gotten the ich in one fish and literally the next day all 10 of them seem to have it. Glancing of leaves etc...I didn't even know what it was until I looked it up. Eventually they all died despite the Rid Ich and other treatments and it still stained my aquarium sealant. At least you had it in qt when you found out!

I got so disgusted I took the whole tank down, and bleached everything; gravel, aquarium, etc. before I started again. I'm scrupulous when it comes to new fish/plants and soak in a potassium permaganate solution before introducing into my tank. Kills just about every pathogen known.
