You know your fish hate you when...

First, my thermometer broke in my tank three days ago. Two days ago I used another tanks thermometer to check the temp and found out the heater broke as well. Yesterday I noticed ich in my tank. So I used a space heater to slowly raise the temp and added 3 teaspoons of salt in the ten gallon so far. Last night while I was sleeping I don't know what happen, but the surge protector strip was set off and the filter was off this morning. I go to turn every thing back on and the filter is now broke and dead. Then upon further inspection I noticed a white thread looking substance, looks like a fungus, growing on the filter intake. The only thing that works is the light and I added a very old air pump for water aggitation. So, today I have to buy a thermometer, heater, filter, and probably going to siffon out alot of water add it back in and use coppersafe. Gotta love meltdowns! Anyone else know a better way to cure my disease problem?

So far now every thing is good. I got that tank up and running again. I got a new tank after that day and it's working well. And good news on that dead filter. I left it plugged in and it magically started working two days later. Still works to this day. I'm afraid to turn it off now though. Lost a few fish and ghost shrimp in the meltdown, but it's okay. My 55 has not had any big problems except if I put of a water change by one day diatoms grow everywhere. So, I'm making sure water changes are done to the exact week after I did the last one.
