I bought 20 giant columbian ramshorn snails a couple weeks ago, and put them in my snail tank. Some didn't move at first but I read that it was common for them to stay in their shell until they feel comfortable in their new environment. Within the next few days, all but about 3 of them were moving around. I figured I would give the 3 a couple more days, then take them out. Well we were real busy and couldn't do a water change until yesterday and man did that tank smell! I gravel vac'd all of the snail poop and took out the dead snails. The tank didn't smell anymore, but the bag that I put the dead snails in reaked  It was disgusting. So, make sure you take out any dead snails ASAP because it is not fun taking out a rotten snail carcass :(

LOL You think that stench is bad? Try finding out the hard way that your python trew up his dinner, from 2-3 days before! Half digested jumbo rat snake puke is the most rancid smell EVER! LOL
